Aim. To present up-to-date information on the defeat of the digestive system in new coronavirus infection (COVID-19).Highlights. In addition to signs of damage to the respiratory system with COVID-19, gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea) are observed, which may precede the onset of respiratory symptoms and come to the fore in the clinical picture of the disease. Patients with chronic inflammatory bowel disease who are receiving immunosuppressive therapy are at increased risk for developing COVID-19. Signs of liver damage with increased transaminase activity may be noted with a new coronavirus infection.Conclusions. Questions about the relationship of digestive system damage with COVID-19 remain poorly understood and require further research.
